As part of the masses hooked on the superior moisturizing and natural ingredients of Burt’s Bees lip gloss, we were excited to learn about their new line of skincare designed for men. The collection includes bar and liquid soap, shaving cream, aftershave and a cologne.
The cologne’s subtle, warm scent, blending citruses and bergamot (i.e. Earl Grey) with woodsy scents for a result that’s fresher than most commercial colognes and natural without screaming hippie. The nuanced aroma carries through to the other products thanks to Burt’s all-natural mission, which also makes for some of the gentlest products around.
We’re particularly taken with the soothing shaving lotion that features calendula (known for care of post-sun or otherwise irritated skin). The body wash, with sunflower oil, is a good bet too.
It’s available online from Burt’s Bees.

Maiden Noir has just released their Fall/Winter collection to the masses and it’s looking pretty hot. Maiden Noir continues to draw inspiration from the “Son of the Seventh” theme and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Haven has received their shipment as well as a few other stockists across the globe.

The So-Cal boys over at Orisue have just released images from their last installment of Fall ‘07. As you would expect to see, the young brand has focused attention to t-shirts, sweaters, hoodies and a very nice collection of premium raw denim. This final part of fall should be on store shelves by the end of the week, and will probably sell out by the end of next.

If you’re looking for a way to get a calorie-free chocolate fix, Pure Inventions makes a line of supplements that packs all the antioxidant benefits of chocolate into a couple droppers full of liquid. Made using their proprietary blend of cocoa extract and powder and sweetened with Lo Han fruit, the collection includes three flavors (plain, vanilla and mint) which can be added to water or anything else to reap the blood pressure-lowering, skin-improving and other helpful benefits of chocolate.
We found the taste to be much like other “health food” chocolates we’ve tried—without the creaminess of regular chocolate and with a fruity sweetness that grows on you. As a water boost or added to yogurt, ice cream or milk, as recommended, it makes for an easy and tasty way to kick up your antioxidant regime. A set of all three flavors is $50 from Pure Inventions.

The SOULD crew has given us a preview of their Holiday collection and everything is definitely on point. The manifesto on their website makes you feel like you’re about to join some kind of underground fight club, and I’m all in for a good wholesome ass kickin! But back on topic, the line is pretty solid and I’m intrigued to what the brand will bring in the upcoming seasons. Keep doin ya’ thing fellas.

The boys over at WESC have been very busy not only revamping and relaunching their website, but also pumping out a DOPE effort for their Fall/Winter line. To start off, when you go to the homepage you are presented with a super crisp image of their ad campaign and many menus to view the F/W line, read the news or check out pics of their activists. Aesthetically the site is a winner and the many different looks WESC offers make them one of my faves this year. Check out the clothes, check out the website.

Our friends at
Kiosk have just introduced their fifth and latest collection, this time sourced from the far reaches of Finland. Like always, the Kiosk team traveled abroad to find the best everyday classics. The collection features a lot of bold retro designs and items worth it just for packaging that references both ’60s graphics and Finnish folk patterns, like a simple carton of pink chalk.
We picked a few more standouts that will also expand your Finnish horizons beyond Saarinen, Aalto and Nokia.
The bold graphic design combining green and white to a striking effect makes this
dart board into the best kind of decor—the kind that’s a competitive pastime as well. The set (it includes red darts) is $48 from Kiosk.
Awarded to best friends as an annual tradition held in Finnish schools for over 50 years, this plaster “Boy ‘Smiling’ Head” is absurdly charming. According to Kiosk, winners are chosen for not just being a good friend but for being balanced as well. You can carry on the tradition yourself for $40.
We love any idea that makes a simple task that much simpler and these Red Stripe Staples are up to the task. Rather than picking at staples with your nails or trying to dig out a staple remover, the red stripe is a breaking point making for much easier removal. A pack of 2000 is $6 from
Kiosk.

WANT Les Essentiels de la Vie plays with expectations in their luxury accessories line that acknowledges the unique needs of the modern jetsetter. According to brothers-and-designers Dexter and Byron Peart, their small collection is “inspired by timeless, functional design classics.” The Narita iPod case, named after Tokyo’s burgeoning airport, recalls Bauhaus aesthetics without seeming stodgy and steam-punk sensibilities minus the gimmicks. The gleaming metal components are the perfect yet unexpected makeweight to balance the simplistic exterior. WANT’s aim is to dispel the misconception that traditional craftsmanship cannot be reconciled with the idiosyncratic demands of modern living—to “achieve unity through contrast.”

From the outside looking in, our small community of “streetwear” enthusiasts can sometimes be misconstrued as a teenage or early twenties crowd. As we all know that is far from the truth and there are certain brands that showcase the more “adult” look that we have to offer. Xescape by Hikaru Otani is one of those brands, and the Fall collection shows the diversity that our market offers. You can cop at Fatlace, Vinnies Styles, Subdivision and Kingsbury.

Vans has just released two more packs from their Vault collection and they look pretty hot. There’s the Pure Life Pack, which includes three Slip-Ons and two Sk8 Hi’s, and then we have the Kvadrat Pack, which hosts two Chukkas, two Prison Issues and two more Slip-Ons. The Kvadrat pack is the standout of the two though. Each shoe rocks with a woven upper which really showcases the quality that Vans has put into each piece.

Maybe because we’re excited about the upcoming U.S. release of Control or maybe just because we appreciate any interpretation of Peter Saville’s pulsar-inspired design, but either way
+41’s new Fairtilizer t-shirt turned our head.
Developed for a music sharing site (called
Fairtilizer) that +41 is art directing, the 100% cotton tee is a nice addition to the rest of their (almost) all black-and-white 2007 collection. A different version highlights the reinterpretation going on in the Fairtilizer logo by depicting it as a tree with the leaf made up of smaller leaves.
We also liked the unique offering for women this season, a handcrafted silk scarf. The delicate symmetry of the peacock pattern makes for a lovely and unusual way to ride the current trend in neckwear.
The scarf (€130) and shirt (€39) are both available from +41.

A couple of weeks ago we showed you the Air Max 90’s with a tweed application… now the rest of the bunch is up to bat. Nike has recently unveiled the rest of the Tweed Pack by blending the said fabric with the Dunk and Air Max 1. Overall the sneakers are very nice and a little more reserved than the 90’s, although Nike did go a little tweed crazy on the Dunks. I’m not mad at it though… a very good attempt that should do well in your collection. Now available at select Nike account locations.

The fourth and latest edition of New Balance’s quarterly Super Team 33 (ST33) collection, available in three exclusive designs, was designed by the Asia Pacific Team. (The first quarter was U.S.-designed, the second was developed by Japan and the third by the Europe, Middle East, Africa.) The 1400 model serves as the canvas again, this time for a theme inspired by the natural elements (wood, water, earth, metal and fire).
Each design reflects one of the elemental concepts, for example, the “Earth and Wood” version is mostly brown with distinctive tree patterns strewn throughout. “Fire and Metal” features a bold black and red design incorporating metallic embroidery and a silver insole and the “Water” model has a blue and white with a transparent outsole with some small water bubble details.
Extremely limited and keeping in line with the collection’s name, like always, the shoes will be sold at only 33 retailers globally and each store will only stock 24 pairs of each style. They will be available for purchase beginning 20 October 2007 for $200.
